KAMPALA – The Foreign Correspondents Association of Uganda (FCAU) will run the series of six workshops in photography between 1st and 11th of July to offer training to potential entrants to the Uganda Press Photo Award 2013.

This first series of photography workshops are organized in cooperation with Goethe-Zentrum Kampala, and will cover a range of subjects that were identified as problems during the first edition of the Uganda Press Photo Competition.

The subjects will include: Photoshop basics; How to compose a great image; Storytelling – how to build a narrative; How to promote yourself as a photographer and Archiving, resizing and metadata and will be thought by the members of the FCAU including Edward Echwalu, Tadej Žnidarcic and Will Boase.

“The Uganda Press Photo Award in 2012 was a fantastic success,” said Malcolm Webb, founder and chairperson of the Foreign Correspondents Association. “Both the entrants and everyone who came to visit the exhibition loved it. We’re keen to keep this going, so that photojournalism in Uganda is recognized and rewarded,” Webb added.

FCAU was set up in 2011 and has over 25 members, not only foreigners but also Ugandans who report for international news agencies.
