Uganda Press Photo Award 2016 announced

The Foreign Correspondents’ Association of Uganda (FCAU) is pleased to announce the Uganda Press Photo Award 2016, the Award’s fifth edition. Founded by FCAU in 2012, the Award recognises and promotes Ugandan photojournalism, and also includes training and workshops for Ugandan photojournalists. The Uganda Press Photo Award is organised in partnership with Friedrich Ebert Stiftung.

This was decided at the FCAU’s 2016 Annual General Meeting, at which the Association’s chairs, Cathy Byaruhanga (BBC) and Mark Schenkel (Het Financieele Dagblad) were re-elected. Halima Athumani (Anadolu Agency) was elected as treasurer, and Malcolm Webb (Al Jazeera) was re-elected as secretary.

FCAU is a professional association for journalists in Uganda who work for foreign news media. It organises social events and off-record briefings with newsmakers for its members, as well as the Uganda Press Photo Award.

The 2016 Award will open for entries around July. Details will be posted on the Uganda Press Photo Award website.
